Job Description:
The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is
currently recruiting for a Food Service, Lead for the Yukon
Kuskokwim Correctional Center (YKCC) located in Bethel, Alaska.
The experience expected from applicants, as well as additional
skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below.
What You Will Be Doing:Provide direct supervision and instruction
for approximately 25 inmate workers; prepare and serve meals while
ensuring appropriate sanitation, safety and security of the
kitchen.
Lead prisoner kitchen workers in preparation and production of
meals for YKCC, Bethel Youth Facility, and Tundra Center.
Ensure meat pulls are consistent with prepared menu, oversee actual
preparation and serving of food to inmates and staff.
Ensure that all modified diets are properly prepared for each meal,
which includes but are not limited to, vegetarian, diabetic,
allergy, disruptive inmate diets, religious diets, and other diets
as prescribed by the Medical Department.
Ensure the proper baking and preparation of all breads and pastry
items.

The Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center (YKCC) is a multi-function,
state operated adult correctional institution. The institution has
a capacity of 220 male and female inmates and employs a staff of
51.

Minimum Qualifications
This job class is part of a series of competency-based class
specifications created for career areas within the Labor, Trades,

MQs.
Copy of your Food Service Worker certification, if you currently
hold one.

Protection Manager Certification.

Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections
Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by
the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use
APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who
has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or
another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice.
Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers
that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of
the initial application for security clearance.
