locationsWhat will be your daily pursuit?The Director of
Maintenance and Engineering for the Alaska Collection is
responsible for the comprehensive management of all company
facilities, equipment, and property maintenance across our
locations in Alaska. Reporting directly to the VP and General
Manager, this role ensures that all properties are maintained to
the highest standards, supporting both guest and employee
experiences. This position oversees the planning, execution, and
financial management of maintenance operations, capital improvement
projects, and sustainability initiatives within the unique Alaskan
environment.What will your compensation be?This role comes with a
competitive compensation and full benefits package and is based in
or near Anchorage, Talkeetna or Seward. Legal eligibility to work
in the US is required. This is not a remote work opportunity and

role is set to start as soon as possible!What will you do in this
job?
- Facility Maintenance Leadership: Direct all general and
preventative maintenance for company facilities, equipment, and
property in Alaska, ensuring a high level of finish that supports
the guest and employee experience.
- Operational Readiness: Coordinate resources across the
collection to ensure that seasonal locations in Alaska are ready
for employee arrivals and in "guest-ready" condition on opening
day.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Location General Managers in
Alaska to provide clear direction on project plans, maintenance
schedules, and work activities to ensure smooth operations.
- Departmental Management: Oversee maintenance department
operations, liaising with Location GMs, Directors, and Managers
across the Alaska Collection.
- Budget Management: Collaborate with other staff and operating
departments to establish annual capital improvement budgets and
build the maintenance department's annual labor and operating
expense budget. Ensure financial performance aligns with the budget
and reforecast.
- Project Management: Secure cost estimates or quotes for major
maintenance and capital projects, summarize them for management
review and approval, and secure necessary approvals and work
permits.
- Procurement: Review and approve material and maintenance
equipment purchases, purchase orders, and invoices for outside
contractor services and consultants.
- Staffing & Training: Develop maintenance staffing models to
provide necessary and cost-effective support. Supervise the
inventory of materials, parts, equipment, and tools, and maintain
necessary inventory controls. Provide ongoing training to
maintenance personnel to ensure safe and effective
performance.
- External Services: Source and manage external architectural,
engineering, and contracting services when necessary.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all facilities, equipment, and
departmental teams in Alaska comply with local, state, and federal
regulations and codes related to guest safety, building
construction, and other relevant areas.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Assist in the administration of
Promise to Place and other sustainability and energy conservation
programs within the Alaska Collection.
- Safety & Sanitation: Ensure structural safety, proper
sanitation, preservation, and fire protection of all properties and
equipment. Oversee ongoing testing and controls to deliver clean
water and comply with water and sewer regulations. Additionally,
manage the implementation and maintenance of safety protocols for
hazardous materials and ensure all staff are trained in emergency
response procedures. Monitor and maintain air quality systems,
ensure compliance with environmental health standards and OSHA
regulations to protect both guests and employees, and actively
promote a safety-first culture across all locations, encouraging
proactive risk management and continuous safety improvements.
- Fleet & Vehicle: Manage our fleet of vehicles and maintain a
vehicle maintenance schedule.What skills and experience do you need
for this job?EXPERIENCE
- 5+ Years of Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience
leading construction or building projects and teams, preferably in
remote or challenging environments.
- Education: Business/construction management degree or
equivalent work experience required.
- Hotel Engineering Experience: Experience in hotel engineering,
construction management, or large-scale building operations
required.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, maps, and overall
construction designs required.
- Financial Acumen: Experience developing and monitoring complex
budgets, inventory controls, and managing staff performance.
- Specialized Experience: Experience with large commercial
laundry, HVAC systems, water purification, and/or fleet vehicle
operations desired.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Broad knowledge of general construction
codes and safety regulations required.
- Remote Facilities Management: Experience with remote facilities
and self-supporting operating systems including water treatment,
septic/waste systems, solar, and other renewable energy systems
required.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, lift with assistance,
stand, and reach are all daily requirements, with variable weather
conditions across all seasons.
- Preferred: Prior training/knowledge of State of Alaska,
drinking water certification(s) and wastewater certification(s),
and understanding of these water requirements for facilities in
both urban and rural communities is preferred.CRITICAL SKILLS

weather conditions and operational needs.
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail, ensuring that all
maintenance activities support the highest standards of safety,
cleanliness, and functionality.What will your work environment be
like?Regular travel within the local geography around the state of
Alaska is required. Occasional travel to other Pursuit locations
may be required from time to time. The nature of the position may
require work to be performed at nonstandard hours and weekends from
time to time. Must possess a valid driver's license and US
Passport.Job Location: This position supports teams and business
from Seward, AK to Denali, AK. Time dedicated across all
operations, during all seasons is required. Office space is
available in Anchorage and Seward.To handle this job successfully,
