Job Description:
The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is
recruiting for a Maintenance Specialist,
Building/Facility/Construction, Journey 2/Lead, for the Goose Creek
Correctional Center (GCCC), located in Mackenzie Point, Alaska.

What you will be doing:
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not
limited to:
Service, clean, and repair gas fired burners, HVAC equipment,
ventilation system, refrigeration equipment, freezers, compressors,
and water heaters.
Conduct routine and non-routine inspections and perform
preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on all HVAC
equipment, ventilation system, refrigeration equipment, freezers,
compressors, and water heaters.
Obtain quotes and advise supervisor for ordering purposes when
parts are needed; assure parts are readily available when
needed.

The working environment you can expect:
Goose Creek Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody
facility that houses up to 1500 inmates and employs over 350 staff.
You will be working with other staff and inmates daily.

Minimum Qualifications
This job class is part of a series of competency-based class
specifications created for career areas within the Labor, Trades,
and Crafts Unit. The class specification identifies the levels of
work and wage grades within the career area, the core and specific
competencies of the career area, required work behaviors,

EDUCATION
If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum
qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the

post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one

subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary

PREA NOTIFICATION
The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and

CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS/APSIN/ACOMS
Please be aware - this position requires the use of the Alaska
Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections
Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by
the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use
APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who
has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or
another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice.
Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers
that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of
the initial application for security clearance.
FINGERPRINT NOTICE
All Department of Corrections employees are required to be
fingerprinted. The successful candidate must pass a criminal
history check.
DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license. Proof of
licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.
